The quick tomato sauce adds some complexity to an otherwise simple, but delicious, recipe. I use Stonefire Grill for the crust, but anything will do.
A pre-made pizza crust; 1 15 oz. can diced tomatoes; 1 clove garlic, minced; 2 tbsp. olive oil; 1/4 cup fresh basil, divided; 1/2 tsp. salt.; 8 oz. fresh mozzarella slices
Instructions1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. 2. Heat olive oil in medium sauce pan over medium-high heat. 3. Shred half of the basil into thin strips. 3. Add garlic to olive oil and cook for 1 minute. 4. Add tomatoes and their juices to sauce pan and cook about 10-15 minutes until the tomatoes begin to break down. 5. Add shredded basil to sauce and cook for 1 minute more. 6. Coat pizza crust with sauce, leaving about 1 inch of space between the edge of the sauce and the edge of the crust. 7. Top sauce with mozzarella slices. 8. Bake for 12 minutes. 9. Top pizza with remaining basil, cut, and serve.
